Overall, it's not the same 'ol tower defense, which is good, but the way it seems to be heading after my first few levels of play looks like it will be quite micromanagement oriented, constantly rotating the rings trying to keep your weapons in range and your vulnerable support satellites and damaged weapon satellites out of range. I found this necessary to do at a few points, but is more micromanagement than I'd prefer to deal with. You can even constantly rotate the rings to keep a batch of enemies within the rather short range of a single turret. ![]() You can (and must) rotate the rings of satellites to reposition them to compensate for the changing paths. The enemies attack and damage your satellites, so you need to pay money to keep them repaired. You need to use at least two of your few slots for a money generator (to provide money, killing enemies doesn't seem to give enough on its own) and a research generator (used to earn upgrade tokens) I don't think I've seen more than 6 or so slots on a level yet, after 4 or so levels. You can only place your "towers" (satellites) in the relatively few slot positions offered. There doesn't seem to be any way to block or reshape the enemy paths. The path the enemies follow is plotted out for you, but changes several times during the course of the level, possibly with multiple paths running at the same time. This game has a fairly different "spin" on tower defense: I love the cheesy retro-50's sci-fi movie videos between the levels. I just picked up Unstoppable Gorg the other day, but have only had a chance to play a few levels so far. I think it got an award for best indie game of the year or something. If you haven't played it yet then you're in for a real treat. It's $9.99 on Steam, which isn't a bad price for one of my favorite games ever. It has very detailed, fleshed out graphics, great sound, and great voicework. No need for multiplayer IMO.įor an indie game the production values are fantastic.
