Flight Simulator Program instituted to aid pilots as part of their recurrent training.Internal Compliance Audits are a key element of Air Evac Lifeteam’s comprehensive compliance program designed to ensure conformity with all applicable federal regulations and pertinent safety initiatives.Risk Matrix System to identify risk factors before accepting a mission. We presently have 4 pilots, each with more than 5 years of EMS experience that utilize online data related to weather and flying conditions to assist our pilots with ‘real time’ accurate information from which to make safe decisions Flight Data Analysts in the operation center.Base assignment requires rigorous local flight orientation training to become an authority on local terrain, hospitals and landmarks. Mission-specific training includes flying at night and landing on unimproved rural terrain, such as pastures and fields. The 14-day course delivers operational and procedural instruction, as well as aircraft and mission-specific training in the Bell 206 LongRanger helicopter.Īs part of their continuous improvement program, all pilots are required to complete recurrent week-long training on an annual basis. Pilots must also achieve standards established in Air Evac Lifeteam's proprietary, FAA-approved training program. Air Evac Lifeteam is among the few air medical companies with this stringent requirement. Before a pilot can fly for Air Evac Lifeteam, the candidates must demonstrate instrument proficiency in a dedicated flight training simulator. Only pilots who meet or exceed their respective states requirements are considered by Air Evac Lifeteam. Each certified pilot meets FAA standards and has flown, on average, more than 5,700 hours. Air Evac Lifeteam's instrument-rated pilots are skilled aviators who become proficient air medical pilots by training under its proprietary and Federal Aviation Authority-approved program.
